DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -- An 18-year-old senior at New Manchester High School passed away after an early-morning accident in Douglas County on Friday.
According to Douglas County Schools spokesperson Karen Stroud, Jadaya Anthony lost control of her vehicle on a curve and then hit a telephone pole and a tree. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to Georgia State Patrol.
The school's principal, Connie Craft, posted a statement on its website saying, in part:
The death of any young person is a loss that affects each of us in one way or another. Condolences go out to her family and friends as well as our school family and community. We have asked the assistance of our crisis team to help our school community deal with this loss. We are providing support to students and staff to help them cope. We suggest that you discuss this matter with your son or daughter and respond to any questions that arise.
On Saturday, the school tweeted funeral arrangements for Anthony:

Anthony was a member of the Atlanta Boom! volleyball club. Friends are planning to hold a candlelight vigil in Anthony's honor on Saturday.
