Hundreds of cancelled, delayed flights out of Atlanta airport

Due to continued snowfall in the metro-Atlanta area, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has canceled and delayed multiple flights.

ATLANTA – If you planned on flying in or out of Atlanta on Wednesday, you likely dealt with delays or cancellations.

The airport also dealt with long security lines. At 3:35 p.m., TSA lines at Hartsfield-Jackson International were close to an hour long. The airport stated that passengers leaving from Atlanta should arrive at least two hours before your flight. By 7 p.m., the lines were back to normal.

Due to icy conditions in the metro-Atlanta area, some 1,082 flights were delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, while another 717 were canceled.

The Atlanta airport was on ground delay, which is implemented to control air traffic volume where the projected traffic demand is expected to exceed the airport's acceptance rate for a lengthy period of time.

Remember to check with your airline if your flight has been canceled or delayed throughout the day.
