A 14-year-old, missing teen has been found safe in Charlotte.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Lauren Haynes who was reported missing and a 28-year-old, man she was believed to be with were both taken into custody Friday night in Charlotte.
Jake Kelly was found at a Hotel in South Charlotte. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the Hotel and were able to locate the suspect vehicle, as well as Lauren and Jake Kelly.
Kelly and Haynes were taken back to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office where Lauren was reunited with her family and went home with them.
Wednesday, December 26, Kelly was charged with Indecent Liberties with a Minor, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, First Degree Kidnapping, and Five counts of Disseminating Obscene Material to a Minor.
He is currently being held under a $250,000 secured bond.
Haynes was reported missing on Thursday, December 20, by her parents after she was discovered missing from home and failing to show up for school.
