ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. -- The Adairsville Police Department is mourning the death of the assistant police chief.

Chief Mike Jones said Louis Dean passed away Saturday afternoon. Chief Jones said Dean was at home with his wife when he suffered a heart attack.

On top of his role as the assistant chief, he was also the public information officer and a Captain.

He started his law enforcement career in 1997 and joined Adairsville Police in Bartow County about three years ago.

"He was just a great leader," said Chief Jones. "He’s going to be missed by everyone so much here at the department. He was a professional law enforcement officer who has high standards.”

Visitation for Dean is Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Trinity Baptist church in Calhoun on Highway 53. His funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the same church.

Dean is survived by his wife and a 15-year-old daughter.
