ATHENS, Ga. - There’s no replacement for having those you love by you as you say ‘I do.’

William Cody Goff and his fiancee Tori Cox were set to get married in Jamaica when a sudden cancer scare had the couple trading a destination wedding for a hospital room in Athens.

Goff’s dad Cody was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma and instead of traveling, he was stuck in the hospital having chemotherapy. Determined to be with family for their special day, the couple sprung into action.

Working with Piedmont Athens Regional’s staff and patient experience representative Ron Jolley, the couple surprised Cody by exchanging vows in the hospital room.

Hospital staff even made a cake for the wedding party while the Oncology Unit gifted a present to the newlyweds. Goff and his new bride later enjoyed wedding festivities in Jamaica.
