Eight arrested in connection to Bloods, Crips gang shootings

Two people were injured during the shootings and one of the eight arrested was a minor.

ATHENS, Ga. - A local police department is investigating several different shootings that might be tied together by one disturbing factor.

Athens-Clarke County officers believe 14 shootings that have happened since the beginning of 2018 are all gang-related.

In fact, two shootings happened on the very same day. On March 30, police responded to a mobile home park where Ladaryn Thrasher and Jarvious Clarke were arrested.

Later, a second shooting happened at a Goodwill store. Officers arrested Damari Jones and Mortavius Crew in the crime and booked them on aggravated assault and gun charges.

In these shootings as well as 12 others, police said all involved were members of either the Crips or Blood gangs. And, in all, two were injured during the incidents.

So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the shootings but authorities have two outstanding arrest warrants for additional suspects, Raydreone Howard and Terique Eberhart.

One of the eight that have been taken into custody is only 15 years old.

The eight arrested include:

  • Jarvious Clarke (still incarcerated with $12,500 bond)
  • Montavious Crew (released on $9,000 bond)
  • Jamir James (released on $3,000 bond)
  • Quintellis Smith
  • Damari Jones (still incarcerated with $9,000 bond)
  • Miquan Pittard (house arrest)
  • Ladaryn Thrasher (still incarcerated with $2,500 bond)
