ATLANTA — An Atlanta native earned a sailor of the year honor while serving aboard a Navy aircraft carrier.

The Navy said Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Roderick Jackson is assigned to the supply department on the USS Gerald R. Ford.

Jackson's commanding officer and other commanders bestowed him with his Petty Officer of the Year Award during an "all hands call" in the ship's hangar.
