Authorities say once the suspects saw police, the two boys fled, crashed the vehicle and ran on foot.

"They later emerged further down Peachtree Memorial Drive and attempted to take a victim’s vehicle at gun point," Atlanta Police Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

After a brief chase behind a shopping center off Peachtree Road captured on body camera video, officers took both suspects into custody.

The two are charged with entering automobile, obstruction of officer, criminal attempt, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, discharge of weapon near public street, hijacking of a motor vehicle and theft by receiving stolen property.

Daugherty said the silver Honda was recovered, having been previously reported stolen from Gwinnett County. He said the investigation is ongoing.
