BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — Brookhaven Police said it best: "Sometimes, the jokes write themselves."

The agency wrote a pun-packed social media post on Sunday regarding an unusual call for service.

"Late this afternoon, BPD officers responded in the area of Osborne Road for a report of a pig inside someone's garage, showing an obvious lack of respect for both personal space and #SocialDistancing," the post said.

Officers arrived to find this hog-wild culprit on the run meandering down the street once again. But with the help of some snacks, they were able to "lasso" the pig and get him to a safer location.

With help from the NextDoor app and "some intense grilling," they learned quite a bit about this prancing porker. For one - his name is bacon.

They also found Bacon's owners and returned him to his home.

"Remember folks, #BPD is here when, and however, you need us," the post concluded.

Before it was all said and done, officers M. Ownes and T. Flynn stopped to grab a couple of photos with Bacon - likely with larger smiles than they're used to in search-and-rescue operations.
