Brookhaven triple shooting suspects may have fled to Mexico

One person was killed outside the Acapulco Restaurant early Sunday morning, and two others were shot.

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- Police believe two men wanted in connection with a Brookhaven triple shooting over the weekend may have fled to Mexico.

have issued arrest warrants for two suspects in a weekend triple shooting outside a Buford Highway restaurant.

The shooting happened outside the Acapulco Restaurant and Bar early Sunday morning.

Humberto Lorenzo Barcenas, 21, of Brookhaven; and Enrique Segura Diaz, 19, of Atlanta, are each charged with felony murder; five counts of aggravated assault; and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Police believe the men were involved in a dispute with other bar patrons. They said they later ran to Diaz’s vehicle where Barcenas retrieved a firearm. Investigators believe Diaz drove as Barcenas fired the gun into an occupied taxi cab before turning back and shooting across a crowded parking lot.

Kevin Carranza Acosta, 21, of Brookhaven, a passenger in the cab, was shot and killed. Cab driver Javier Lira was shot in the shoulder, while Paula Gaitan Romero, a bystander in the parking lot, was shot in the arm. Both were treated at area hospitals and released.
