MACON, Ga. — The coroner's office confirmed the names of two people killed after being hit by a freight train on Saturday.
Coroner Leon Jones said Cory Dale Cranmore, 28, and his brother, Brian Cranmore, 30, died in the incident.
"This is a very, very sad call," Jones said. "I mean two people have lost their lives and you know what’s coming up. It’s Christmas."
Georgia Power has signs along the property on Arkwright Road that say no trespassing. Coroner Jones said tragedies like the one that happened around 1 p.m. on Saturday are the reason.
The train involved in the crash is operated by Norfolk Southern which has freight operations around the state and recently announced the decision to move its headquarters to Georgia from Virginia.
