Deadly stabbing of Buckhead grandmother | Man indicted on felony murder charges

Antonio Brown, 23, was indicted last week on a dozen charges in connection to Eleanor "Ellen" J. Bowles' death.

ATLANTA — The man accused of stabbing and killing a 77-year-old Buckhead grandmother last December has been indicted by a Fulton County Grand Jury, records show.

Antonio Brown, 23, was indicted last week on a dozen charges in connection to Eleanor "Ellen" J. Bowles' death. Brown faces charges including four counts of felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, burglary in the first degree, abuse of an elder person, theft by taking, robbery, and the possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.

On Dec. 10, 2022, Bowles was found stabbed to death inside her Buckhead home in the gated community of Paces West. Atlanta Police Department investigators previously said the motive appeared to have been a crime interrupted, where Bowles encountered the suspect attempting to steal her Lexus SUV in broad daylight.

Bowles was stabbed multiple times and was later discovered in her garage by her son Michael, who was coming home for the holiday.

"I was on my way to visit her for the holidays and got to her just a few hours too late," Michael said during his mother's vigil. "Finding her like that is something that will be with me forever."

Brown was arrested less than 24 hours after Atlanta Police released a surveillance video

According to a previous 11Alive report, Brown had a growing criminal history. Fulton County jail records show Brown was back in custody at the jail for the fourth time since 2019.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis previously released a statement addressing the case. In the statement, she said her office is now working with the APD "to ensure that justice is served for the murder of Eleanor Bowles."
