Gas main break causes traffic headache in Buckhead

The leak caused lane closures on Lenox and Peachtree roads not long after 5 p.m.

ATLANTA -- Motorists had an unwelcome surprise heading into rush hour traffic on Thursday when a gas leak shut down all lanes of Lennox Road near Ga. 400.

Video shows crews on the scene just west of Ga. 400 in Atlanta working to get the leak under control.  While much of the Lenox Road blockage was estimated to clear soon, the gas main break was expected to have four of six lanes on Peachtree Road blocked for several more hours - possibly as late as 9 p.m.

Authorities haven't said what caused the main rupture; though, SkyTracker video shows construction in the immediate area of Lenox Road near 400.

Atlanta Gas Light is handling the gas line repairs.
