Newton County offering new reward for info on teen's shooting death

Investigators believe his killer followed him home from Zaxby's where the victim worked.

Roughly a month and a half after a teen was killed after coming home from work at a Newton County restaurant, police have upped the reward for the person responsible for his death.

Police are now offering $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Quentin Martin's killer. On Oct. 24, Martin was shot and killed in front of his home at 100 Greenway Drive after leaving work at Zaxby's.

Police now believe the shooter followed his victim home from the restaurant - which is located at 12945 Brown Bridge Road.

Martin was just two weeks away from celebrating his 17th birthday when he died. His father, Roddrick Foster, said Martin had plans to become a pilot, that he was an honor roll student and that his son stayed out of trouble.

His father said Martin's manager was the one driving him home that day and was also shot. When officers arrived, they found them both. Martin died at the hospital from his injuries.

It was a tragic end for a teen who had also experienced tragedy earlier in his life. Family members said he witnessed the murder of his mother and grandmother as a young child and that his mom died in his arms. They said he took his baby sister and brother and hid in the closet with them.

He came out, locked the doors and called 911 when he thought they were safe. He later helped identify the suspect.

Deputies are asking anyone with information concerning the shooting, call the sheriff's office at 404-575-TIPS or contact Cpl. Wade Freeman at 678-625-1445.
