Water outage in East Paulding Co. leaves hundreds of homes without water; Boil Water Advisory lifted

Crews said repairs should be complete within several hours.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Paulding County Water Department told 11Alive that most of the eastern part of the county was without water Wednesday morning.

About 250 homes were affected by the break, according to Paulding County Water.

A boil water advisory was in effect for areas of eastern Paulding County along Highway 92, including subdivisions along Paige Street, Womack Avenue, Presidential Drive, Viola Drive and Kensley Way. The advisory was lifted Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Residents in those areas should boil all water before use for drinking, cooking or preparing food. Water should be brought to a boil and left at a rolling boil for at least a full minute before use.

Citizens in the affected areas should continue to boil their water until they have been notified the water system has been restored to full operation and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption. Officials said the advisory would be in effect until at least Thursday. They are testing samples.

According to officials, a water main break occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. County water officials said the break happened at Highway 92 and Womack Avenue.

"[Water is] slowly being restored to residents," said the water department.

They said they are hoping to have it fixed in a few hours, but there is no word when the water will fully be restored.
