Do you recognize him? Sketch shows man who tried to carjack victim in Decatur

Police say the armed man failed to take the car despite being armed with a gun.

DECATUR, Ga. — Police have released a sketch of a person who allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle in Decatur.

The incident happened on Derrydown Way on Jan. 4 just before 9 p.m. According to police, the man was armed with a handgun and tried to steal a car from its driver. But when he was unsuccessful, please believe he escaped in the direction of the Avondale MARTA station.

The suspect was described as a black teen or man in his early 20s. He was about 6 feet tall with a slender build and was wearing a gray Under Armour-brand sweatshirt with dark pants and tennis shoes. 

Now, Decatur police are hoping someone may be able to match the sketch to a person. If they do, police are hoping they'll e-mail Investigator Robert Lindsey at robert.lindsey@decaturga.gov or call 678-553-6628. They can also call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
