ATLANTA -- A Delta flight out of Lafayetta, La. had to make an emergency landing Friday afternoon after experiencing an issue, officials confirm.

According to Delta, the flight crew heard an abnormal noise coming from the nose of Delta flight 2824. That's when crew declared an emergency for the Boeing 717 due to an issue with the nose gear, the FAA said.

The flight managed to land at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport -- it's intended destination -- around 4 p.m., and was able to taxi off the runway.
