Driver dies after van collides with tractor trailer near Six Flags

AUSTELL, Ga. - The driver of a Chrysler van died after colliding with a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened near a private drive in the 1000 block of Six Flags Road at 12:40 a.m.

According to the report, 31-year-old Margaret Lightfoot, the driver of the Chrysler, was driving west on Six Flags Road when a 2003 Freightliner tractor that was pulling a semi-trailer exited a private drive and entered Lightfoot's path.

The front end of the Chrysler collided with the left side of the semi-trailer's tandem wheels.

Lightfoot was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the tractor-trailer, 40-year-old Placencia Orlando of Florida, was not injured.

Investigators are still determining whether or not to press charges against Orlando. The Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division is assisting with the investigation.
