Driver of luxury car hit boy crossing street, kept going, police say

The boy is now fighting for his life.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are on the hunt for a luxury vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that left a boy critically injured. 

According to the Cobb County Police Department, a boy was trying to cross the street at Olive Springs Road near Cerice Circle around 3:45 p.m. Monday. As he was in the street, police said a BMW X3 - similar to the one below - going south hit the boy and kept going.

First responders rushed the boy, 8-year-old Essah Johnson, to Scottish Rite Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Investigators believe the vehicle is dark blue or black and will have damage to the driver side headlight area.

Police are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
