DUNWOODY, Ga. - A community is mourning the death of a Dunwoody High School student who died while on Spring Break in Tampa.

Phineas Haq was a member of the school's cross-country team. The school's basketball coach said Haq died from injuries he received after a fall while running.

The high school's principal announced his condolences on Tuesday.

The school's Cross-county team also announced well wishes on Twitter.

Along with City councilman Terry Nall:

On Thursday, Andrew Chappell, the youth minister at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, announced funeral arrangements for the teen:

Dear Parents and Students,

We are all deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Phineas Haq. He was a beloved member of this Church and community, and many of us are at a loss for words. It has been particularly difficult in this time of grief because many of us have been in so many different places on spring break. That is why I think it is important for us to be together.

Sunday evening, April 9th, from 6:30-7:00pm we will come together in the Youth Area of Dunwoody United Methodist Church to remember Phineas.

A memorial service will be held in the Sanctuary of Dunwoody United Methodist Church on Saturday April 15, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Phineas Haq Memorial Fund at Dunwoody United Methodist Church.

On Friday, 11Alive spoke with some who were close to Haq, who said the loss has left everyone reeling.

"It's just crazy to think that someone on my team was doing what we all do every day, and was going on a run," said Julie Hensley. She was on the cross country team with Haq and called him one of the most dedicated members.

"He was always, after practice, running more laps, just trying to go the extra mile," she said. "I'm gonna miss him, watching him run every day, and seeing the motivation in his face, and his smile. Always making everyone happy."

Youth Minister Andrew Chappell is asking every to display blue ribbons in celebration of the teen who lost his life. Chappell said Haq was one of those people who always encouraged his friends, on the team, at school and in church.

"He was the student everybody wanted to teach," he told 11Alive. "He was the athlete everyone wanted to coach. For me, he was the youth anybody would want to mentor. And he was the friend you always wanted by your side."
