Target employee zip-tied, robbed at Dunwoody store, incident report says

The suspect told him to open the safe and load the money in a bag, according to the incident report.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Dunwoody Police are investigating after a Target employee was allegedly zip-tied and robbed.

According to the April 10 incident report, police were called to the Perimeter Court Plaza location to investigate the crime after midnight.

The victim - an employee - said he was leaving work out of team door when a white SUV pulled up. That's when he saw two men with handguns wearing masks and gloves, the incident report said.

The suspects got out of the SUV, ran towards him, and told him to back inside of the store.

Surveillance video shows the employee walking back in the store with two others.

The incident report said one of the robbers told him "no alarms better go off and for him to turn them off." The employee complied. The suspect then reportedly told him to open the safe and load the money in a bag. The victim did so and then one of the men zip-tied his arms behind his back, the report said.

The employee told police the robber asked him "how do they get out of here" and he escorted them back to the team door. The suspects ran back to the SUV and left the scene.

According to the incident report, the victim told officers the zip tie was loose so he managed to free his hands. The victim ran to the back of the store and tried to dial 911, but said the call would not go through. That's when the employee decided to contact the loss prevention officer manager and told him about the robbery.

They contacted police and reviewed the store's surveillance. The video shows the white SUV come up and park. On another camera view, the employee can be seen turning the alarm on and exiting the store a little after midnight.

Police presume that's when the suspects in the SUV decided to make their move. Seconds later, video shows the employee entering back into the store with the two suspects. They walk into the office and disable the alarm, then the alleged robbery happens.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
