'I felt betrayed' | Mom alleges East Point officer sexually assaulted her 15-year-old daughter

Authorities are conducting an investigation.

EAST POINT, Ga. -- 11Alive is following a story with disturbing allegations against a local officer who is now on administrative leave.

A mother alleges an East Point Police officer sexually assaulted her underage daughter.

11Alive received a call around 3 a.m. from the concerned mother, saying her 15-year-old was molested by an officer Sunday night.

Her daughter was headed to Waffle House with two other people in the car. She claims the officer ordered the teen out of the car and told the others because she's 15 and out late breaking curfew, he was going to take her home.

According to the family, that didn't happen. They accuse the officer of taking the teen to a park and forcing her to perform sexual acts. When the teen went home, she told her mother and she was taken to the hospital.

“I felt betrayed," the mother said. "I was hurt and I was very angry that a police officer of the law would do such a thing." (Click here to hear more from the mother.)

11Alive contacted the East Point Police Department about the allegations and confirmed an officer of the same name reported by the mother is on administrative leave with pay, pending an internal investigation on whether he violated policy.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms it is also investigating criminal allegations against an East Point Police officer after receiving a request from the department.

A spokeswoman for the GBI said they were unable to release additional information about the case right now because their investigation just started.

Meanwhile, the family says they have hired an attorney.

11Alive will continue to follow this story and bring updates about the investigation.
