Mom: Officer accused of assaulting her daughter showed up to hospital after

Authorities are conducting an investigation.

EAST POINT, Ga. -- A mother of a 15-year-old who was allegedly sexually assaulted by an East Point Police officer says she feels it is an ultimate betrayal.

"Who can you trust," she asked.

11Alive received a call around 3 a.m. Monday from the concerned mother, saying her 15-year-old was molested by an officer Sunday night.

The mother, whom 11Alive is not naming as it would identify a victim of sexual assault, said her daughter was at Sykers Park in East Point, headed to Waffle House with two other people in the car.

She claims the officer ordered the teen out of the car and told the others because she's 15 and out late breaking curfew, he was going to take her home.

According to the family, that didn't happen.

"He told her that if she did not do what he told her to do, that he would have locked her up," the girl's mother said. "In between, he also took some other police calls and had my daughter in the car with him."

They accuse the officer of taking the teen to a park and forcing her to perform sexual acts for hours.

"She remained in the backseat and he asked her to do some inappropriate things," the mother said.

When the teen went home, she immediately told her mother and she was taken to the hospital.

“I felt betrayed," the mother said. "I was hurt and I was very angry that a police officer of the law would do such a thing."

The teen's mother said they took her to a hospital in East Point to collect possible sexual assault evidence. But while the teen was going through her examination, hospital security confirmed that the officer - in full uniform - showed up looking for her.

"He proceeded to use his police title to roam the halls looking for her," the teen's mom said.

The mom said she had security escort the officer out to protect the teen and her family.

11Alive contacted the East Point Police Department about the allegations and confirmed an officer of the same name reported by the mother is on administrative leave with pay, pending an internal investigation on whether he violated policy.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms it is also investigating criminal allegations against an East Point Police officer after receiving a request from the department.

A spokeswoman for the GBI said they were unable to release additional information about the case right now because their investigation just started.

11Alive is not naming the officer because he has not been charged.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old's mother says they have hired an attorney, all the while trying to wrap their brains around why something like this happened in the first place.

"Why would he think he could get away with doing something like that," she asked. "I'm really concerned other children, other young girls that this might have happened to."
