Elderly driver sends vehicle completely through Goodwill Donation Center

The accident happened just outside of Stone Mountain in Gwinnett County.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say a driver is OK after driving through the front window of a Goodwill Donation Center all the way to the back wall on Thursday.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. at 1227 Rockbridge Road - a Stone Mountain address in Gwinnett County.

Fire crews found a mess left behind by the vehicle, which was still at the back of the store when they arrived - apparently stopped by the concrete wall. First responders checked the driver who they said didn't sustain any injuries and everyone inside the donation center was OK as well.

As a precaution, the driver was still taken to an area hospital for further non-emergency evaluation. Police said the driver was in her late 70s and that no drugs or alcohol were suspected at the scene.

No charges are currently pending due to the accident being on private property. Police are still investigating exactly what led up to the crash.

Firefighters investigated and determined that the building was still structurally sound despite the accident. Fire personnel remained on the scene until the power could be secured by Walton Electric Membership Cooperative.
