ATLANTA -- A firefighter is listed as stable after being hit by debris while responding to a 2-alarm blaze.
The call came in late Saturday afternoon as smoke billowing from an attic at 2035 Peachtree Road in Atlanta. Firefighters immediately began working to get to the third floor and into the attic where they successfully knocked the fire down.
"In that process, we did have one firefighter who got injured," Anare Holmes said. "Some debris may have hit his head. He is stable and he is on his way to Grady Hospital."
Holmes added that the injured firefighter was taken to the Marcus Trauma Center at the hospital for evaluation.
No one was home at the time the fire erupted but officials were already in the process of notifying residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
