FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Hall County Sheriff's Office says a dog and car stolen from their owners in Flowery Branch on Sunday were returned to their owners early Monday morning.
They said the woman who was responsible for taking them both was taken into custody without incident and hospitalized for evaluation.
It all started Sunday morning shortly before 8:30 when the victim had put the dog, a 15-pound white Pomeranian named Bear, into his Hyundai Elantra in front of his home in the 4500 block of Union Place in the Chestnut Mountain area of Hall County.
Deputies said that after the victim put Bear in the car, with the engine and air conditioner running, he stepped back inside his home for a moment.
When he came back outside, a woman wearing only a towel was in the driver's seat of the car with the doors locked. He says he yelled at her to get out of the car or at least let the dog go.
He told deputies that the woman just pulled off, driving through the yard, headed toward Union Church Road. After checking nearby homes, deputies were unable to locate the car or Bear.
By early Monday, the Braselton Police Department said they found the woman, the car and Bear at the Best Western Braselton Inn on Zion Church Road. Bear was unharmed.
The woman was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation but her identity is being withheld due to HIPAA regulations. There is no word at this point regarding charges against her.
