The wife of slain Locust Grove Police Officer Chase Maddox is thanking the community for its support.
Alex Maddox issued this statement on Monday, two days after her husband was laid to rest:
There are no words I could possibly find to express my gratitude for the outpouring of love and support for our family. It has been our rock through our worst nightmare. Hearing everyone’s kind words and stories about our Chase has been a guiding light. As we took yesterday to honor my handsome, heroic, amazing husband- seeing everyone lined up for miles upon miles brought a sense of comfort I have not been able to find since 02/09.
To my LGPD and world-wide extended LEO family- your constant presence, reminders and promises that Chase will never be forgotten has eased my heart more than I can put into words. As I tried to take in every aspect of his memorial service yesterday, I could not have imagined a more grand and perfect way to honor our officer. For that and everything else- I will be forever grateful.
The love of my life, my husband, and my hero is Officer Chase Lee Maddox - 216, and because he is mine, I walk the line. ◾️💙◾️
Chase Maddox was shot and killed after being shot three times as he assisted deputies in serving a warrant on Feb. 9. Two Henry County Sheriff's deputies were wounded, and the suspect, Tierre Guthrie, was killed.
Alex Maddox gave birth to the couple's second child, Bodie, on Tuesday -- four days after her husband's death.
