ABM Aviation to cease providing facility services for Delta, laying off more Atlanta workers

The new layoffs are expected to take effect Sept. 15.

A company that provides facility services for Delta Air Lines will lay off 202 Atlanta employees.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the layoffs come as ABM Aviation, a division of New York-based facility management company ABM Industries, plans to cease providing those services for the airline.

ABM Aviation supports airlines and airports in multiple efforts such as: cleaning aircrafts, handling cargo services, cleaning airports, assisting passengers, airline security, facility maintenance, parking and more, according to its official website.

The layoffs, which are expected to be permanent, include 178 hourly maintenance workers, 23 managers and one human resources business partner, according to a notice filed with the Department of Labor.

The notice shows Chicago-based real estate company Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. will assume the contract.

This round of layoffs comes months after the company laid off 1,000 workers.The new layoffs are expected to take effect Sept. 15.
