Car accident on Johnson Ferry Road claims life of Marietta man

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 61-year-old man has died following a collision with a vehicle driven by a teenager on Johnson Ferry Road.

A spokesperson for Cobb County Police said that the crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on Friday. Investigators said a 2011 Mercedes SL550 was turning left from northbound Johnson Ferry Road to Powers Road when it collided with a 2010 Mercedes C300 that was heading south.

The driver of the SL550, 61-year-old Robert M. Higginbotham of Marietta was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene. The teen driving the C300 was taken to Kennestone Hospital with injuries that police said didn't appear to be life-threatening.

Police have not suggested who was at fault for the crash or if charges are expected. The department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is handling the investigation to uncover more of what happened at the time.
