COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Three men were found guilty and another man was acquitted in the June 2013 death of a man in Mableton.

Johnathan Donald Anthony, 19; Antonio Shantwan Pass, 20; and Jekari Oshay Strozier, 21, were found guilty of murder and other charges on Wednesday. Kemonta Deandre Bonds, 22, was acquitted.

Officials say the defendants severely beat 36-year-old Joshua Chellew outside a convenience store on Mableton Parkway in the early morning hours of June 30, 2013.

According to Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds, investigators determined that Chellew showed up intoxicated at the gas station and held up a blue bandanna. That allegedly set off the attack from the defendants, who wore red as members of the Re-Up gang.

The men attacked Chellew at the gas pump. Prosecutors said Chellew ran onto the highway to get away from them and was hit and killed by a car.

Anthony, Pass and Strozier face a possible sentence of life in prison without parole.

The trial began on August 18. The jury deliberated for several days before reaching a verdict.
