DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have arrested a man accused of slashing a woman's throat in Douglas County.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Kenny Wayne Oliver, was arrested in Spartanburg, S.C. on Wednesday.

According to police, Oliver was living in the victim's home at the time of the incident.

Investigators say Oliver cut Sandy Archey's neck and hands while she was sleeping in her Douglasville home Aug. 5. She fought him off and he fled.

Archey's throat was slit three times. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Glenn Daniel says Oliver was living with Archer and her family at the time of the attack.

Archey's daughter, Ashley Archey, says her mother took Oliver, who is a long-time friend, in when he needed a place to stay and helped him find a job.
