Man installs radar speed sign in front yard

After 10 accidents in his front yard, a metro Atlanta man installed a radar speed sign to slow people down.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- A Hall County man installed a radar speed sign in his front yard to deter people from speeding.

After 10 accidents and six mailboxes, Rick Schumann was fed up. He wanted people to stop speeding on Williams Road. The solution came with the help of Sgt. Casper of the Hall County Sheriff's Department.

Casper had obtained a radar sign from Radarsign out of Marietta.

Originally the radar speed sign would only display the speed of passing drivers. But the device didn't have the software to collect data, Schumann paid for the software himself. And now the Hall County Sheriff's Department knows the exact time a day to wait for speeders.

The sign has been such a success that Hall County has purchased seven more to install across the county.
