MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County police are asking for help locating a missing teen.

They said 19-year-old Jaden Amar Thornton was last seen at a group home in the 500 block of Hawkins Store Road on Thursday, May 3.

Both the department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a joint Mattie's Call for Thornton.

Investigators said that before Thornton left the group home, he said he was going to catch a flight to Florida. In a release, Cobb County Officer S.A. O'Hara said that Thornton does not have money, a means of transportation, or a working cell phone. O'Hara added he did not leave with a bag or belongings.

Thornton is described as a 19-year-old black male who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, light gray shorts and brown Adidas shoes.

Police said Thornton has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, bipolar disorder and has an IQ of between 65 and 71.

This is not the first time that Thornton has gone missing. A year before, Thornton walked away from his Jonesboro home and was the subject of a Mattie's Call then. He was found safe a day later.

Anyone who has seen Thornton or has information on his location is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3911.
