Police make second arrest in Marietta teen's fatal shooting

A white vehicle with a rear spoiler was spotted leaving the area.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Police have arrested the second and final suspect they believe was responsible for the shooting death of a 19-year-old late last month.

On April 27, Marietta Police responded to a shooting at 1750 Bells Ferry Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. Police found Tyon Demeko Gorman lying on the ground outside the business. He was shot at least one time.

Gorman was rushed to Kennestone Hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Police had been searching for a white vehicle with a rear spoiler that was seen leaving the area, heading north on Bells Ferry Road. They later connected 18-year-old Mekhi Hilali to the incident, and arrested him May 2. Authorities charged him with felony murder, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and aggravated assault with intent to murder.

Police had still been on the lookout for a second suspect, 17-year-old Je'marquis Wright, who had been wanted for questioning related to the incident. On May 15, Marietta detectives and the FBI's Safe Streets Gang Task Force finally found him and arrested him.

They charged him with felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with intent to murder and street gang and terrorism prevention. During his arrest, however, authorities found multiple weapons and drugs in his possession and anticipate further charges.

Police now believe they have all the suspects involved in custody, but if anyone has any further information on the situation, they're asked to call police.
