UNION COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say a child who went missing from his home in Union County on Thursday has been found and is being checked by medical personnel.

The Union County Sheriff's Office alerted social media users that they were looking for the child, who they referred to only as Brett, after he was last seen around 10 a.m., Thursday.

Brett lives off of Highway 180 roughly 4 miles from Brasstown Bald Road according to the sheriff's office. When he was last seen, police said he was asleep in his bed.

The sheriff's office confirmed that he was found late Thursday afternoon but didn't provide any details of where he was found or how he may have gone missing.

They did, however, thank the community for their thoughts and prayers.
