ATLANTA — A wild road rage scene played out in the middle of the day Monday in Atlanta.

Police said officers were called to Lucile Avenue and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to respond to a person shot. When they got there, they found out the shooting involved a man on a moped and a group of men in a pickup truck. It stemmed from a road rage incident, officers said.

Police said the men in the truck got out of their vehicle and assaulted the person on the moped. He then pulled out a gun and fired a round, hitting on of them. Police said the man was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The person on the moped tried to leave the scene, but police said the group in the truck followed him. Police said the truck ended up hitting another vehicle in the process.

Police said the man who had been shot was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Other passengers complained of injury and were taken to the hospital.

According to an 11Alive crew, the ramp to I-20 west from Joseph Lowery is closed.

The investigation is ongoing.
