Snellville police: DUI driver hits motorcyclist wanted for vehicular homicide

CORRECTION: Based on reports from the scene, 11Alive erroneously reported that the accident was fatal. This was not the case.

SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Police say a man who was seriously injured in a Thursday night motorcycle wreck faces charges related to a fatal wreck in Florida.

Police said the accident happened around 10 p.m. in the area of Rosebud and Brushy Fork roads.

The driver of the car involved in the wreck, Christopher Speir, remained on the scene but, according to Snellville Police Chief Roy Whitehead, was charged with driving under the influence.

The rider, Ernest Evans, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

However, he may not walk away as a free man either. A police report states that, back at the scene, a responding officer learned that Evans was wanted out of Miami for a charge of homicide - more specifically negligent manslaughter with a vehicle.

Once treated, he is expected to face extradition back to Florida.
