ATLANTA — A woman was shot outside of the former Anchor Down Grille & Lounge early Friday morning, according to Atlanta Police.
The shooting happened at 4:50 a.m. outside the business at 2520 Piedmont Road NE, now known as Kompass Rose.
According to Cpt. Andrew Senzer, a 24-year-old woman, had been at the business with some friends.
When she went outside the building with another man, police said another armed man walked up to her and shot her in the back as she got into her car. She was transported to the hospital in stable condition. As for the suspect, police said he ran off right after.
Police said the victim told them the she had been in a relationship with the suspect previously, and he shot her because she was with another man. Investigators are working to confirm that theory and establish a motive, as well as identify the suspect.
Meanwhile, the gunman is still on the run.

This is not the first instance of a shooting at this business.
Kompass Rose, formerly known as Anchor Bar, has been in operation since 2015 and moved from 1878 Piedmont Avenue to its current location at 2520 Piedmont Road in 2016.
In 2015, the Atlanta Police License and Permits Unit issued two citations to the business after it allegedly violating laws related to the sale of alcohol. A year later, the License and Permits Unit cited the business four times for similar violations. After the 2016 violation, police suspended the business’ liquor license for 5 days and fined the business $5,000. Since that time, officers have conducted several spot checks of the location and have not found additional violations.
However, police said after Friday morning’s shooting, they will be taking "a hard look at the location and their business practices to see whether there are any violations." Investigators said they would also be working with the city’s Law Department to explore options to have their liquor license revoked.
