Coroner identifies body found in Georgia river as missing man

ATHENS, Ga. — Authorities in Athens have released the name of a man found by kayakers in a Georgia river on Saturday.

According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the county coroner positively identified the victim as 54-year-old Emory Odell Findley of Athens. Findley was first reported missing on March 29. The police department said his body was found on the Middle Oconee River near St. George Drive.

Authorities are still working to determine the circumstances of Findley's death and they're asking anyone with information to call Detective Paul Johnson at 706-613-3330 ext. 522 or email him at Paul.Johnson@accgov.com.
