ATHENS, Ga. — Police in Athens are looking for help from the public in locating an armed robbery suspect who they said held up a convenience store last Friday.
Athens-Clarke County officers initially responded to the goPuff store in the 1900 block of Commerce Road at about 11:23 Friday evening.

When they arrived, witnesses told them that two black male suspects -- one described by police as "slim," the other, they described as "heavy set" -- both concealing their identities, had entered the store and demanded cash from the store's safe.

According to police, both suspects were armed with handguns.

After they got the cash, police said, the suspects demanded the phones of the witnesses before they fled on foot.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident. They are asking for anyone with information about the incident to contact Athens-Clarke County Police Detective Paul Johnson at 706-613-3330, ext. 522, or email Paul.Johnson@accgov.com.

Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers at 706-705-4775. Crime Stoppers tipsters are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects in this case.
