CUMMING, Ga. — For 10 years, Angels Among Us has helped animals find a home. But this is not your typical animal shelter.

“We are foster-based which means we rescue animals, and they go into foster homes versus a shelter environment,” Jillian Griffin, project and events coordinator, said.

The non-profit, which is based out of Forsyth County, relies on donations to keep everything running smoothly. They recently partnered with a popular restaurant that has locations throughout metro Atlanta.

“We do fundraisers on a weekly basis,” Griffin said. “This is our first time with Grub Burger Bar, though.”

Partnerships like this are nothing new for the Texas-based burger chain. According to Joel Bailey, managing partner for Grub, these “give backs” happen on a regular basis.

“We really want to help out the community and show that Grub is not just another restaurant out there in the market,” he said. “We're actually a part of the community as well. We live and work right here among the people that we serve, so we want to give back and help out as much as possible.”

The fundraiser, which started Monday and runs through Thursday, gives 20 percent of proceeds to Angels Among Us, which Griffin says is extremely helpful.

“The money that's collected from fundraisers like this go directly to the animals and their needs, especially ones that we pull from shelters that desperately need critical medical attention,” Griffin said. “being a foster-based rescue, we are always in need of both volunteers and fosters. If you have an extra spot in your home or you're looking to volunteer with a pet rescue organization, please consider Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.”
