Cumming Police serves up soup to seniors

City Police Department partners with Marie's Italian Deli to deliver meals to the elderly.

CUMMING, Ga. — The City of Cumming Police Department has announced a team-up with Marie's Italian Deli to launch "Soups for Seniors".

Through the initiative, police officers will deliver homemade soups made by the staff at Marie's Italian Deli to residents 65 and older inside city limits.

The Cumming Police Department wrote in a post on their social media page to let recipients know that the soup will be delivered in patrol vehicles say, "we don't want anyone with a heart condition worrying that their youthful days in the 60s had finally caught up to them!!"

If you or someone you know is interested in need of a meal, you're asked to call Karen Marie at 678-725-9291. Recipients will have the choice of a quart-size serving of Tuscan white bean and ham or tomato basil soup.
