Forsyth Co. Sheriff’s Office says crime decreased significantly in 2019

Sherrif's Office says county has seen a reduction in burglary, theft, robbery, and rape.

CUMMING, Ga. — According to the Forsyth County Sheriffs Office, they saw a significant decrease in crime throughout the county from 2018 to 2019. 

The sheriff's office reports that there has been a reduction in burglary, theft, robbery, and rape from 2018 to 2019:

  • Burglaries were down 33%
  • Theft declined by 28%
  • Robberies dropped 22%. 
  • Reported rapes in 2018 versus 2019 decreased by 52%.

The department uses the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Uniform Crime Report (UCR) and the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) to analyze crime rates in the county. 

Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman says that he prides himself on Forsyth being one of the safest communities within the metro Atlanta region.

“The continued reduction in crime in the County is a true testament to the cooperation and communication between the citizens and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Without the buy-in from our citizens, we would not be successful in combating crime and making sure it does not happen in Forsyth County,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman.
