Neighbors shocked by terror suspect arrest

This Forsyth County subdivision was quiet until the FBI began a raid on one of the homes.

CUMMING, Ga. — A typically quiet neighborhood in Cumming has seen more than its fair share of activity this week.

On Wednesday evening, federal agents flooded the area near the home of Hasher Jallal Taheb, who was recently arrested on terrorism charges. People who live near the home, which sits at the corner of Horseshoe Creek and Walking Horse, said they were surprised by all the activity.

“Last night, I was eating dinner and I heard a helicopter flying around,” George Biscan said. “After 5 or 10 minutes, I went outside and he’s hovering over the back corner of our subdivision. He stayed there for about 15 minutes. Every once in awhile he would move and then come back.”

Biscan lives about two blocks from the Taheb. He said he did not know what was going on until Thursday morning.

“To find out we had somebody that close planning something like that… that's a scary thought,” he said. “The world is really going to crap.”

Mary Hoynes lives directly across the street from Taheb and had a front row view of all the action.

“I went to walk the dog and came out the back and opened the gate and looked at an armed… I don't know what branch they were from, national guard or something, with these big rifles facing our house,” Hoynes said. “It makes you think. You never really know who is in your area, so I guess we need to be really aware.’

No one we spoke to claimed to have ever met the Taheb who reportedly lived with his family.
