Suspect caught after morning manhunt in Forsyth County

A two-car accident in front of a daycare center resulted in a suspect fleeing on foot.

CUMMING, Ga. — An accident on Martin Rd. near Ga. 400 led to a manhunt for a suspect with a criminal history.

Guin'ville Latrell Quarles Sr. was arrested at 2:45 p.m., Monday, April 22, after nearly 6 hours on the run after a traffic accident on Martin Road.

Forsyth County sheriff's deputies immediately began a search for the suspect at around 9 a.m. After a two-car collision near the White Oak Learning Academy, the suspect fled on foot into the woods near the site.

Quarles was found behind the Wal-Mart on Brown's Bridge Road, about a mile and a half away. Deputies said that he was attempting to steal tennis shoes from the store.

According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Quarles has an "extensive criminal history" and is wanted on several warrants in Hall County, including drug and gun charges.

The White Oak Learning Academy said in a statement that the daycare center initiated a lockdown during the manhunt.

On their Facebook page, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said that they received several tips from residents and businesses during the search for Quarles.

"I've got a Mossberg 12 gauge always loaded and ready," David Sorrells, who lives in the area being searched, said. "I'm pretty well-protected up at the house, but it is also a nervous situation…to always be looking out the window."
