CUMMING, Ga. — Fridays at the Fairgrounds is back for its second year!

“We had about 5,000 people for our first Fridays at the Fairgrounds last year,” Cumming Mayor Troy Brumbalow said. “We did not have enough food trucks, because we did not know how big it was going to be. But this Friday there will be plenty of food trucks.”

In addition to the food, there will be live music, plenty of adult beverages, a kids zone, and an area for the burnout event.

“You sit stationary and burn the tires off to make as much smoke as you can,” Brumbalow said. “There will be 500 to 1,000 people standing around cheering you on. It's a lot of fun. Kids and adults alike really love it.”

Brumbalow, who will be participating with his Pontiac “Bandit” Trans Am, says the event is sponsored by Lanier Tire & Wheel.

“First place will get a $200 gift card to use for new tires,” he said. “Second place gets $100. Third place gets $50.”

Interested parties can sign up to participate at the event, but you’ll have to sign a waiver and take a breathalyzer test.

Fridays at the Fairgrounds will run from 5 to 10 p.m. on the third Friday of every month from April to October.

Also happening at the fairgrounds this weekend is Taste of Forsyth. That’s going on Saturday, April 20th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than two dozen restaurants will be selling samples of their food for $1 to $4. There will also be three Easter egg hunts – 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
