'When hard things like this happen, there has to be a light' | Cumming music group supports their community

'Okay Kenedi' announces virtual concert Friday, March 26 to raise money for a Forsyth County non-profit.

CUMMING, Ga. — With the cancellation of dozen of shows, 'Okay Kenedi' is going virtual like many singers and bands have been doing so lately. The twist? They're raising money for the Cumming non-profit, 'Meals by Grace'.

The Christina indie-pop rock band said they were encouraged by their record label, Little Bird Big Sound, to live stream a concert and use a virtual tip jar to recoup some of the losses that they would experience due to canceled shows.

That's when the members of the band: Kenedi Griffis, Micayla Wise, and Sarah Dickerson decided to use those virtual tip jar to do something bigger.

"We just realized that this is a great platform and opportunity to support the community we're from. And it wouldn't be beneficial to take the tips for ourselves. When hard things like this happen, there has to be a light," said Griffis.

The virtual concert will be Friday, March 27 from the living room of the Wise's home at 7 pm. The show can be viewed on all of the band's social media pages including their Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

According to the band, those who donate to the virtual tip jar will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win items from 'Because Coffee' and 'Community Cup'. The profits will go towards 'Meals by Grace's' mission of delivering free meals to the children and families of Forsyth County.

Okay Kenedi that prides itself on creating alternative music with Christian roots.
