ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department and local east Atlanta restaurant owners want you to be vigilant when leaving items in your car.

Two vehicles were found with smashed windows and stolen items at Lloyd’s Restaurant and Lounge in Inman Park Sunday evening.

Police say the vehicles’ owners had only left their cars unattended for a little over an hour. When they returned a little after 10 p.m. Sunday night, that’s when they found their cars damaged and items stolen.

Backpacks containing an iPad and other miscellaneous items were stolen, according to police.

The Atlanta Police Department also told 11Alive that there has been a slight uptick in car thefts in the Inman Park neighborhood since last year.

In 2018, there were 221 larcenies from vehicles. There have been 268 vehicle larcenies in 2019 thus far.

11Alive reached out to management at Lloyd's Restaurant and Lounge, but they were unavailable for comment by the time this story was published.

Police are still investigating Sunday’s thefts.
