Cobb Chamber launches COVID-19 Economic Recovery Task Force

A task force has been formed to help businesses affected by novel coronavirus.

EAST COBB, Ga. — The Cobb County Chamber of Commerce has formed an Economic Recovery Task Force, aimed at helping anyone negatively affected by COVID-19. The newly-formed task force consists of nearly 30 business leaders from across the area.

“We have a broad representation, especially focused on some of the industries that were most impacted,” Sharon Mason, President and CEO of Cobb Chamber, said. “So we have a lot of small businesses as part of the task force with healthcare represented. We also have our hospitality and tourism represented, some of our international businesses. We also have the head of Cobb Community Foundation to represent the nonprofit community as well. So we have a lot of different representatives to make sure we work together. We knew we could not make it too big.”

The task force held a closed meeting for the first time, on Monday afternoon. The following day, more than 500 people attended a webinar entitled “How To: Business Recovery from COVID-19.”

“We’re planning to have more forums, especially as we hear from business owners about what they need,” Mason said. “We're planning to make this really a series and continue to provide resources to help businesses through this time.”
