Drive-by shooters target East Point home twice, hours apart

The Leyland Pointe subdivision home was targeted just hours after police cleared the first incident.

EAST POINT, Ga. — A home in the Leyland Pointe subdivision of East Point was targeted by gunfire twice in a few hours on Thursday, November 21.

Capt. Allyn Glover from East Point Police told 11Alive that they responded to a call about several shots being fired just after 2 p.m., outside a home in the 5000 block of Laurel Ridge Drive.

In that incident, a 19-year-old male inside the home was struck in the leg.

There were also two females and a child in the home at the time, but they were not hurt, police said.

At least five to 10 shots had been fired into the house, according to police. Neither the victim or the other witnesses were able to provide a description of the shooter or their vehicle at the time.

Police remained on the scene until after 4 p.m. as a part of their investigation.

According to Capt. Glover, the house was targeted a second time on Thursday evening after police left the scene.

While it was not known that both incidents were committed by the same shooters, it was possible, according to police.

No one was hit during the second incident.

East Point Police now say they are looking for a black vehicle, possibly a newer model Hyundai.

Police have not released the name of the victim or the others involved at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers or East Point Police at 404-761-2177.
